I have a Cisco881-k9 model router and the problem i am facing is with the number of vty lines it just shows 5 vty lines(i.e 0 to 4) to be configured .
When i try and configure the line vty 5 it says invalid input . Is it a Hardware Limitation for this model or the change of ios image would solve the purpose.
Please find the show version for the router as below

The 880 only support 5 vty lines. Why you need more?
04-04-2012 02:58 AM
There is a requirement in which we need more then 5 vty lines. Three for the internal access and three for the Cari access for the client.

Many Thanks for your reply Paolo
So its a hardware limitation and not an ios one right ?
04-04-2012 03:55 AM
This is a software limitation decided by Cisco and thatt cannot be overriden by the user.
Thanks for the nice rating and good luck!

Is it possible to override this by changing the ios ?
04-04-2012 04:09 AM
Again: why is that you need more vty lines ?
04-04-2012 04:20 AM
We need more vty lines due to a requirement to give the client access to the router on 3 ports through the rotary command on those lines.
and we need to have 3 vty lines reserved for our internal access as per the design guidelines.
so we require 6 vty lines

To be honest with you, 6 users accessing the router simultaneously, seems exaggerated for such a small branch router.
You can try to talk to Cisco, but usually not much comes out of similar feature requests.
