Can i cisco 881 router support ospf and bgp routes ?
I have plans to setup a new router to support ospf and bgp, if cisco 881 cannot support than I have to go for cisco 1941 series.

Yes it supports.
For this you will need Advanced IP Services Image Feature License

Hi
881 can support bgp and ospf. It also depends on version, with advanced security there may be availaible only bgp, rip,...but not ospf so check the version out also.
(config)#do sh ver | i image
System image file is "flash:c880data-universalk9-mz.152-3.T1.bin"
(config)#router ?
bgp Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
eigrp Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)
lisp Locator/ID Separation Protocol
mobile Mobile routes
odr On Demand stub Routes
ospf Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
ospfv3 OSPFv3
rip Routing Information Protocol (RIP)

any performance issue if I used the cisco 881 for a 10Mb metro-E line ?
for the Advanced IP Services Image Feature License, do I have to pay additional to get it install ?

Hi
I think 881 should handle 10Mbps with no larger problems.
Advanced IP Services license also should include BGP and OSPF protocols.

10Mbit is not a problem here. We use them for products up to 20Mbit...

i have just received the 881 router, there is one FE WAN port and 4 FE LAN port.
the 4 LAN ports are layer 2 only, I cannot configure IP address on them.
the only way is configure IP address on the default VLAN1.
will I have issue with the routing to route VLAN1 to the WAN port ?

No, as VLAN1 supports Layer 3 functionality, as IP is.
The 4 LAN ports are part of a kind "internal" switch. Each port can be assigned to a dedicated VLAN, by default they will be added to VLAN1.
Just add an ip address to VLAN1, connect a device to one of those 4 ports and try to ping each other, you'll see it will work.
In case you are using an additional VLAN, e.q. VLAN5, you have to add this new VLAN into the vlan database.

another question regarding what router to choose from.
when do i choose a cisco 1941 router over a cisco 881 router ?
processing power, more interface card/slot ?
Can the cisco 881 do the job of the cisco 1941 router if I do not require the addtional interface card ?
I just need the router to do routing, no additional features is needed.

One of the important question to ask when choosing a router is the WAN bandwidth you want to support now and in the future.

the bandwidith is 10Mb.
at most will increase to only 20Mb.

May not be enough. 1941 would be more suitable.
