Dear Cisco-Community,
I try to mirror one uplink port (Gi8) of my Cisco892 to a switchport (Gi2). Is it a bug or a feature that I cannot mirror uplinks(Gi8-9), but switchports(Gi0-7) do work?
Uplink not working:
C892-(config)#monitor session 1 source interface gigabitEthernet ?
<0-9> GigabitEthernet interface number
C892-(config)#monitor session 1 source interface gigabitEthernet 8
% Incomplete command.
C892-(config)#monitor session 1 source interface gigabitEthernet 8 ?
% Unrecognized command
Switchport works
C892-(config)#monitor session 1 source interface gigabitEthernet 7
C892-(config)#

I don't know the answer - but typically you can only monitor switch ports, not routed layer 3 ports.

Thank you. So, I will switch from WAN uplink to access ports (with SVI) for my WAN connection.
