Hi All,
Hoping someone could give me a definitive answer, as I can't seem to find it.
I am looking at purchasing a Cisco ASR 1001. Its appears to be able to cater to my needs. However, I do have some questions.
The questions I have are:
1) Are the Cisco ASR 1001 V02 and a Cisco 1001-X the same? The look different, which you would think would be a dead giveaway, however looking at Cisco's documentation, all I can find was information starting from the 1001-X and going higher. (Maybe as I am in Australia, it has something to do model/naming conventions? Not sure).
2) Does the Cisco ASR 1001 V02 have SFP+ ports? According to Cisco documentation, the 1001-X does, however again due to not finding any consistent documentation, I am unsure. I want to plug in a 10GB SFP+
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Hello @doreskicisco1
ASR 1001x is end of life. Check C8500 categories.
C8500-8S4X - 8500 Series 4x SFP+ and 8x SFP, 4x10GE, 8x1GE

ASR 1001-X has built in 2 x 10GB SFP+ port works for 10GB.
if you looking full 10GB , you need to buy a through put License to work. it has base license that do not support full 10GB.
as M02@rt37 mentioned it got short span and end of life soon 2027
if that is what you looking for span, i am sure cisco routers worked for me even it passed end of life and support(but only think you wont get any security updates and hardware replacement - if you looking contract)
New Cat 8K Models are replacement, but personally that is expensice copare with 1001-X or 4K Routers. - make your choice reasonable call.

Thank you everyone. I apologise for the late reply. The client has decided to go for an ASR901 6CZ-F-A 10GbE.
I haven't dealt much with ASR's at all, in fact pretty much this will be my first one.
I confused about the licencing, however, I will search and maybe post another threat about that.
Thanks everyone!
