Cisco CME SIP Trunk Call Fails with Cause Value 3 and SIP 404 – Help

CaCa126
Level 1
Level 1

I currently have an internal VLAN 1011, and all internal IP phones can communicate with each other without any issues. However, no matter what I try, I just can’t make outbound calls to external/public numbers, nor can I get the configuration to enable external calling to work. I would really appreciate any help or guidance from the experts here.

Here goes my current config and debug:

Thank you so much for helping me with this!!!

Kind Regards,

Caca

You should not have a session target on your inbound dial peer, and it should absolutely not be pointed to an IP in your CME router and you should add bind statement to your dial peers so that it uses the appropriate interface to communicate.

Thank you very much for your reply and help. I have now modified my dial-peer configuration as per your instructions. However, calls to the public number 966115189XXX still do not go through. Below is my latest configuration and debug information. I kindly ask for your further assistance. Thank you so much!

I look forward to your reply once again. Thank you again for your help.

By the looks of your debug output you’re sending multiple invites to your service provider, but they aren’t responding to them and eventually the call fails with timer expiry. Looking at your configuration I see that you haven’t enabled the Cube functionality in your router and you have b2bua set on your dial peers. That’s quite unusual to have on SIP trunk dial peers. What type of trunk do you have with your service provider, registration based or just a plain trunk with no registration?

One comment not related to your problem, please do not post debug output directly inline in your response. That makes the post very difficult to read. Also please collect the output from your debugs into one file instead of having them separated into multiple files.

This document should help you with how to setup your router as an SBC Cisco Unified Border Element Configuration Guide - Cisco IOS XE 17.6 Onwards and this document should help you better understand how call routing operates in IOS Explain Cisco IOS and IOS XE Call Routing

Hello, thank you very much for your reply and suggestions. I’m currently using a Mobily SIP Trunk in “No Registration” mode. At the moment, public outbound calls are still showing error codes 102 and 408 in the debug ccsip calls output. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to contact me at any time.

Suggest that you start by removing the b2bua command from the dial peers and turning on the Cube functionality in global voice configuration by the mode border-element command. I would also recommend that you remove the registration configuration for the service provider IP under sip-ua section. When done please collect the output from these debugs in text file, debug ccsip message and debug voip ccapi inout that you post in your answer.

To add to my previous response. Both cause code 102 and 408 are related to timeout in response.
