Cisco Soho 77 - 4 Mbits?

I was wondering, is there any good reason for an old Soho 77 to no reach a download rate of 4 Mbits?

I mean, is there any physical limit for the device?

If not, where could be the configuration mistake?

I guess you can reach up to 2 Mbits and the clockrate cannot reach more than that
