Hi,
Am having trouble getting the line protocol up when trying to connect a customer over an ATM link. The customer has a nortel router. Any specific parameters to be configured.
Don't have this issue with other customers using Cisco routers.
Thanks
Imran.

Hello Imran,
can you post the configuration of the Cisco router, and the relevant parts of the ATM PVC config of the Nortel box (if you use e.g. SpeedView, post the screenshots) ? Which Cisco and which Nortel boxes are you using ?

GP

Hi,
Here's the Cisco 7500 router config
interface ATM1/0/0.5 point-to-point
description CUSTOMER
ip address X.X.X.X 255.255.255.252
ip verify unicast reverse-path
no ip directed-broadcast
no ip mroute-cache
no atm enable-ilmi-trap
pvc 11/100
vbr-nrt 8192 8192
oam-pvc manage
encapsulation aal5snap
The other end is a 5430 passport Nortel router, I do not have the configs for the Nortel box.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks
Imran.

I would verify the Nortel is configured with the correct PVC and encapsulation type.
Can you post show int and show atm vc 11/100

Hello Imran,
is it possible to get into the Nortel box ? We need to verify that at least the PVC in the Nortel is enabled, and that the aal5 encapsulation is set correctly. Who is your provider ? Can you check with the provider that the PVCs are both defined and active at the provider's end ?
