Clocking across OC3 Link

Should the clocking source (internal) on an OC3 link be on the provider's end and set cpe router to "line"? Why and why not?

Hi Abester,

The CPE end should be line while the provider most likely gets clock from a much more reliable source.

Most providers will use highly accurate crystal oscillators to provide clocking for their SONET/SDH networks. Therefore, it is sensible for CPE to reconstruct the clock signal from the received stream.
