Hi,
My distribution switches (6509E) recieving high amount of broadcast traffic from access switch(3750) trunks , so my distribution switches cpu utilization is going high ( 90%).
I know there are many braadcast traffic from access switch server vlans passing and that is hitting distribution hsrp vlan x in distribution switch,
I tried to use stormcontrol broadcast supression, but still there , is there any way to avoid this situation?
or how can we block broadcast traffic which is hitting distribution switch SVI interface.
Could please anyone help me on this ?
Regards,
Musthafa

How much traffic do the interfaces have and how much of that is broadcast? The broadcast needs to be there so that SVI can answer ARP requests and so on. Are you sure you don't have a bridging loop? What levels did you set the storm control policer to?

You can use the broadcast storm control feature.
But as Daniel said, its better to identify, why is this happening in the first place.
