DCI for iwan / pfrv3

Can anyone point me to documentation on setting up a DCI between PfR hub and transit hub. My understanding is this is only for PfR control traffic and since we are not advertising the same prefixes out of both sites. The hub site is configured for it's prefix and the enterprise prefixes and the transit hub is configured only for it's prefixes.

1. I'm trying to determine the size of the connection needed between locations

2. I'm trying to figure out exactly the setup/routing configuration.

Thanks

I have already looked through iwan design guide and pfr solutions docs

Hello.

If transit site does not advertise (in routing and PFR) prefixes from primary Hub - you are correct - only control-plane will use the DCI.

But from routing perspective - are you sure there will be no traffic between the transit and primary Hubs in case a Hub lost all WAN links?

PS: iWAN 2.2 supports "DCI" over the same DMVPN clouds; 2.1.1 didn't support this and you had to run "dedicated" link.

Hello.

Here is a small document to map release version to iWAN - https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/13306101/iwan-2x-versions-and-release-support

Please note, that 2.2 adds some new limitations on design (like DMVPN phase 3 only) and relaxes some old (like multiple tunnel termination per Hub BR).

If the primary hub failed your DCI might end up carying all the traffic.

That's correct, we are not advertising prefixes from the primary hub (in routing or PfR) on the transit hub. How would I know if I was running PfR 2.1.1 or 2.2?

Thanks
