Do I need to police or shape a full 1Gb Internet Link?

We just got a full 1GB internet link.  It's going to be for internet only.  Is it recommended to police it or shape it or can I just let it ride???

Depends on what you want to accomplish. For example, there might be some class or classes of traffic you don't want to hog all your bandwidth. For such, you might want to police or shape it at less than gig (or deprioritize it during congestion).

Otherwise, no.

Absolutely right said by Mr. Joseph, it depends what is your organization utilization, better monitor the traffic and if needed use police (drop the excess traffic) or shapping (put excess traffic buffer instead than drop like in policing).
