DS3 with ethernet handoff

I am getting a DS3 from XO communications with an ethernet handoff.  Do I need a special card to take the handoff?  (special being something other then the standard FA ports in a router).

Perhaps what they are referring to is a sub-rated LAN connection and the target speed will be similar to a DS3 (45Mbps).

You don't need any special module other than a LAN port for this hand-off. I suggest deploying QoS so you can shape the packets to a 45Mbps speed instead of the default interface speed which can be 100/1000
