HI all,
We have a DSL circuit coming into a 2821 with WIC1-ADSL card. The service is in Los Angeles' AT&T territory (Alcatel DSLAM) and provisioned as an RFC 1483 bridge with static IPs. Encapsulation is aal5snap and the pvc is 0/35. How can I get the ATM to sync and bring the interface up and up?
Symptom:
sh int atm0/2/0
ATM0/2/0 is initializing, line protocol is down
Anatomy:
*show version*
Cisco IOS Software, 2800 Software (C2800NM-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T6, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)
*sh run int atm0/2/0*
interface ATM0/2/0
no ip address
no atm restart timer
no atm ilmi-keepalive
pvc 0/35
no ilmi manage
encapsulation aal5snap

Any ideas?
Thank you in advance

Hello Athonia,
What we are observing is expected. What happened is that some WIC-1ADSL boards were built using an incorrect part but it happened long time ago for WIC-1ADSL cards shipped directly from Cisco after 10/01/03 do not have this problem. There is indeed a field notice Cisco created on this issue. There is one way to identify the affected cards: The part number will be 73-4771-08
Check the "show diag" you sent:

Thus, it is recommended to replace the card.

Hello Athonia,
Please confirm the dsl operating-mode you are supposed to use. You can try using dsl operating-mode auto under the interface atm to know if that makes any difference. Please gather the following output to know if a firmware upgrade is needed:
show dsl interface atm 0/2/0

Thanks for your quick response. The 'dsl operating-mode' was definitely set to 'auto'. Here's the rest:
*show dsl interface atm 0/2/0*

Hi Athonia,
Thanks for the information. Please gather these debugs:
Debug atm events
Debug atm errors
I also want to know if this was ever working or if you are trying a new setup. On the other hand, I would like to determine if you are getting ADSL or ADSL2+.
Regards.

Jose,
This is a new DSL setup and hadn't been working before. We tested it with a standard DSL modem when it was initially installed. The service we have is only standard ADSL (not ADSL2+ or anything like that)
