the router needs to run the correct IOS version and all you need is plug it in.
Please provide other relevant info:
1. sh version;
2. what module are you trying to use.
3. sh inventory

I have connected a 10 Gig SFP module on the ISR. It worked for a day but when we reloaded the router it was not detecting the SFP module and currently we have to use the copper cable to connect to gig0/1 instead of a fiber cable.
