Extend a Vlan across OSPF L3 Links

I have a split core network with clustered wireless controllers in each location.

The core is connected to our wireless controllers via layer 2 trunked links passing vlan 401 across it. Meanwhile, we have ospf routing subnets from our core across L3 port channels. We have L3 port channels between Core > Distro > Access. I want to extend that Vlan from the core to our access switches so that our L3 wireless traffic on vlan401 could communicate to a wired access device on the same vlan 401.

What would be the easiest way to configure this and extend that vlan 401 from Core to Access over OSPF router L3 port channels?

Answer depends on the specific network devices being used, because there are multiple technologies for moving L2 over L3, but a specific technology is often not supported across all kinds of devices.

If your devices were both L2 and L3 switches it might be easily done using VLANs, as you would not need to transport L2 over L3, but any transit router makes for a problem.

Hi

If you give us a better explaination on what is your final goal, whould be easier to recommend a solution. It seesm you have one topology with 3 layer where the core and distribuiton speaks layer3 by design and now you  want to break it and extend vlan?

Inicitially you should consider re-design your core and use layer2 instead.

Why you want the access switch to be in the same layer2 vlan as the wlc?

If you use ospf and probably the vla  401 has an interface vlan on cores, why no propagate this network down link?

This vlan 401 is for wireless users or wlc management?

Does your APs is in flexconnect mode or local mode? If in local mode you are already  extending traffic by using capwap tunnel.

Ha, BTW, I too had similar questions in mind, mostly centered about "why" the need for this and also thinking about approaches like local LWAP breakout.  So, I too will be interested in OP's response to @Flavio Miranda questions.

I think if you put this post under wireless is better'

WLC have already have capwap tunnel'

Now what can we do for this' you need to make wireless central switching

Teaffic from wireless vlan401 to wlc and from there to wired vlan401.
