Fail over Routing

HI Every one,

We have a site with TWO routers with two different ISP on each router as shown in attached diagram.

ISP1 connected with BGP and ISP2 connected with EIGRP.

We want to make ISP1(BGP) as primary path and ISP2 (EIGRP) as backup path.

When ISP1 fail ISP2 should up and works.. and when ISP1 up again it shoud take the priority for LAN traffic.

Plesae note we have configured failover interface between routers with Eigrp.

Plz suggest the way to achive this.

Since you are running HSRP and I assume the router with BGP is the primary router, then what you would need to do is configure HSRP tracking. This could be with an IP SLA but since you are doing routing then you can also consider tracking IP routing.

Once the tracked object is down HSRP would decrement the priority forcing the backup router to take over, once the tracked object is up then the primary will take over again.

HI Thanks,

what is tracking IP routing, how can I solve this:.
