Hi Guys,
I have a Cisco 881 and 877, with branch offices that have their own 877.
Each branch router has a DVTI to the head offices 881 and 877, with the Tunnel going to the 881 being 4000kbps and the 877 being 800kbps. Using EIGRP to share the routes the routers are able to determine the fastest route to where they need to go...
However the problem is that I am using HSRP on the head offices 881 and 877 so that if one of the routers goes down all the core services will remain operational. BUT since both routers have "directly connected" tunnels they both ignore EIGRP which is saying to the 877 that the fastest route to the branch offices is through the 881.
Hopefully this makes sense and someone might be able to help me out?

Hello,
Can you share with us the show ip route of your head office routers? Have you configured your tunnel interfaces with ip unnumbered?
Thanks,
Herve

This should not be a problem. You can configure HSRP in such a way that the router with the fastest connection is active.
Under normal circumstances there will then be no traffic through the standby router.
Naturally you must also ensure to have the HSRP address as def-gw for all hosts on the LAN.

Leo
