Frame Relay problems

Hi,

I am coming across a typical problem regarding Frame Relay configuration.

One of my client is having a sub site connecting to main site router via a Frame Relay provider network.Frame Relay is configured as point to point sub interface end to end.Few days back this link had a problem which got resolved by replacing the serial cable (modem and router serial port). Now when I check the interface status on both the sides, I find that status at sub site side is up and line protocol up.But at main site router the status is down and line protocol down.PVC status at sub site end is Active where as at main site router is DELETED.

Still I am able to ping end to end on the IPs assigned on the interfaces.

Please investigate as what could be the problem?

Regards

Sameer

Hello,

it should not be possible to send traffic across an interface in status down/down. Is there a backup solution in place that allows for connectivity once the FR connection is down?

The second (not really probable) option is that your router learned another DLCI through LMI and bound it to an interface. Through FR inverse ARP you could have connectivity.

The reason for a FR PVC reporting DELETED is, that this information is learned through LMI. It usually refers to the situation, that the PVC DLCI is not configured on the provider FR switch (either SP failure or you used the wrong DLCI).

Hope this helps! Please rate all posts.

Hi,

As in main site showing PVC deleted means you need to check it from you local Service Provider for DLCI mapping in Service Pro switch.
