Frame-relay Switch

Hi ,

I have 1 3745 router with 2 nm-4t card. I want to use it as a frame-realy switch for my home lab. Can you please let me know whether I can do that or not and if yes then how? I would also like to know the type of cable i need to connect to my router for wic-1-t and wic-2-t slot.

Hi Sumitava,

You can configure router as Frame relay switch. You can have DTE or DCE cable and there is no specific requirement in cable type for frame relay switch.

1. Enable "frame-relay switching" globally

2. Enable "encapsulation frame-relay" under all serial interface connected to other frame relay DTEs.

3. Enable "frame-relay intf-type dce" under all serial interface on frame relay switch.

4. Configure "frame-relay route interface serial
