GLBP on Nexus 7000

Hi,

I have two pair of Nexus7000 in my two datacenters as vPC pair (A&B in datacenter 1 and C&D in datacenter2 ).I have created VLAN 100 on all four Nexus with ip 10.1.1.2,.3 and .4. ip 10.1.1.1 is glbp and acting as GW for all my servers in both datacenters. Now my challange is , how can I keep my servers in 1st datacenter to use local Nexus's mac glbp as GW instead of using glbp mac of another Nexus in datacenter 2.

We would like to keep traffic local and achive loadblancing as well without using two GW address.

Any suggestions?

Regards.

Hello Mohammed,

this is beyond the GLBP protocol capabilities unless using two GLBP groups with two different GWs so that the "remote boxes" are not used for having lower parameters.

if this is not an option you probably might accept the fact that hosts in DC1 will use a forwarder in DC2 and viceversa.

Also how return path would work ?

traffic back to the shared IP subnet will come back on what device?

Hope to help

From your description aim assuming u have L2 link between ur DCs

But not sure if this is a good design to extend the vlan over two DCs using one glbp group

Unless u r looking for some VM requirements here !!

Also with vPC all the uplinks are in forwarding if u use hsrp then ucan have one default gateway per DC

But both uplinks to ur N7K are in forwarding and from there u can use equal cost multipathing using a routing protocol ti ur core fir example !
