Hi,
What is the difference between GRE and IPSEC tunnels? And in which scenarios do we use them?
Also, are the Crypto features only on IPSEC Tunnels?
Appreciate your response
Thanks

Hi Navneet,
AFAIK GRE tunnels are primarily used on routers. Generic routing encapsulation is what GRE stands for. You can IPSEC over GRE as well which will make it more stronger.Tunneling protocol developed by Cisco that can encapsulate a wide variety of protocol packet types inside IP tunnels, creating a virtual point-to-point link to Cisco routers at remote points over an IP internetwork.

IPSEC tunnels can be used on any VPN enabled device like Cisco PIX, Concentrator, Routers and other security devices.
