Hello,
I've a requirement from a client to configure P2P GRE tunnels between access-layer switches and internet edge switch (tunnels will be passing dist and core switches). The total number of P2P GRE tunnels will be about 96 tunnels. The internet edge switch is C9500.
Given this high number of GRE tunnels to be terminated on a single switch (C9500) and aside from the fact that this will be a messy design (in my opinion), are there any risks, performance impact, or cons to this design?
I appreciate your input.
Best, ~zK

Not sure what is the use case, if this is an internal network, you can do VRF? why only GRE?

Hello,
the amount of tunnels, 96, shouldn't be a problem. Can you elaborate on the design ? Where are these tunnels terminated ? A multipoint GRE with DMVPN design would drastically reduce the number of tunnels required...

As per my understand original post looking to implement this in the LAN. 3 hops away from access to internet edge.
