i am trying to configure a 1CE1B PRI on my cisco router to use with my digital modem. when i am typing the isdn switch-type and the switch type, i get this:

C3825(config)#isdn switch-type primary-ts014
                          ^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

the router is running IOS 15.1(4)m10

what is the issue?

Hello Ali6359,

you may have a license issue or  you need to configure the clocking options first.

Follow the document here

https://community.cisco.com/t5/collaboration-voice-and-video/basic-isdn-pri-e1-configuration/ta-p/3149294

It explains you need the uck9 license installed and active before being able to perform other configuration.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hello,

both your router and your network module are very old. Either way, as far as I recall, the 1CE1B is not supported on the 3800 series, only on the 2600/3600/3700. When you do a 'show ver' do you see the card at all ?

Check the link below (scroll down to the 'Channelized T1/E1 and ISDN Network Modules' section):

1-port channelized E1/ISDN-PRI network module, balanced

NM-1CE1B

Cisco 2600 series
Cisco 3600 series
Cisco 3700 series

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/interfaces/nm/hardware/installation/guide/OvrNetM.html

ive just hit a brick wall, the e1 module is incompatible bwith my router. have to get myself a compatible unit (NM-1CE1T1-PRI)?
