Hi Friends,
My wan is comprised of 100+ routing devices and Iam using OSPF and ip addressing is not contiguous, because of this I haven't configured route summarization.There are
2600, 1700,1841, 2800,3600 & 7200 routers in my network
Most of my routers cpu utilization is pegging at 90% during peak hours.Number of routes in area 0 routers are around
860 through out my network and number of routes in stub area routers is around 550.
Below I have attached show ip route summary output for one of the area 0 router and stub router.
Area 0 Router
Hostname1#sh ip route summary
IP routing table name is Default-IP-Routing-Table(0)
Route Source Networks Subnets Overhead Memory (bytes)
connected 0 4 696 608
static 0 0 0 0
ospf 200 1 857 54912 130416
Intra-area: 201 Inter-area: 348 External-1: 221 External-2: 88
NSSA External-1: 0 NSSA External-2: 0
internal 61 71492
Total 62 861 55608 202516
Stub router
Hostname1#sh ip route summary
IP routing table name is Default-IP-Routing-Table(0)
Route Source Networks Subnets Overhead Memory (bytes)
connected 0 4 696 608
static 0 0 0 0
ospf 200 1 857 54912 130416
Intra-area: 201 Inter-area: 348 External-1: 221 External-2: 88
NSSA External-1: 0 NSSA External-2: 0
internal 61 71492
Total 62 861 55608 202516

Hi,
Can you examine which process is taking up more cycle in CPU.
Have you taken any diagnostic captures?
Can you post the output of those captures here.

Hi Vijayshankar,
The OSPF Router process is consuming the more cpu cycles.Am attaching the show processes cpu, show ver and show ip ospf stat output for one of the backbone router in area 0.
This router has 3000 routes, but most of the other routers have the routes around 850.
More than 60 routers are 1700,1841 & 2600 series.
Thanks
Ravi
