You can connect a console cable to the console port through a usb port on your computer but the easier way would be to connect through to the web interface. We would need to have a model # to help with more specific answers.

In general, you assign IP addresses with network address block to two or more interfaces and connect devices to those interfaces. The router will route between those address blocks for packets sent to its interfaces.
E.g. 192.168.1.1/24 <router> 192.168.2.1/24
Recommend you obtain a copy of Cisco's Packet Tracer.
