Hi all,
I have a Cisco 2821 ROUTER on which I connect a VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 card . The problem is that the IOS does not recognize the command "card type E1".
Can someone help?
Please See below the result of the sh ver command on this router:

Hi,
The problem is that I do not see the command "card" when I type "?" on the configuration mode, thus When I type the "card type e1 x " command the router replies me that this is an unknown command.
Thanks for your help!

Try "controller e1 0/0"

are you saying that the serial interfaces aren't showing up or the controllers?

I'm pretty sure that tyhe card-type command does not apply to VWICs. You can accomplish the config by using the "controller e1 0/0" (or whichever controller it is) command,
and then entering you framing type, etc.

Is the router recognizing the cards? Please provide 'show diag'.

what slot do you have the VWIC in?
edit: Have you tried another slot? Also, that IOS is rather old. Have you considered updating it?
Also, Specialed351, my 2811 does show my VWIC-2MFT-T1 on a sh diag.

but the router does see the card in the "show ver". Did you try the command even though it does not show? there are some commands that do not show on a "?"...if it is true e1 t1 you have to specify.

More then likely you have a bad slot in the router or a bad vwic. I had the same problem with one of my 2820s and I had to have TAC replace the vwic. I try moving the vwic to another slot. If that doesn't work, its probably bad.

Are all LED on the vwic off ?
