Dear Sir/Madam,
i test it, if i shutdown root port can cause designated port go into designated discard state, and send proposal bit.
I know for RSTP if root port transfer to other new root port, such as a new line comes up, old root port will go into designated discard state and trigger P/A
if i shutdown old root port , there is no root port at this moment, Does this trigger P/A process on other designated port ?
I haven't find any official document to say this detail.
Thank you!
J

Hello
When you shut down a root port on a switch that has dual paths to the root then RSTP will just transition the blocked port into a forwarding state and will become the root without any P/A
However when you enable one of these point-point ports RSTP PA would be initated
