Input errors ----- ignored on interface router

Hi all, I am having a issue about input errors (ignored):

- r1-lnshubcen-I#sh int fa0/0 | in CRC|carrier|counter

  Last clearing of "show interface" counters 20:54:56

     1118 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 1118 ignored   <-------------

     0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier

Somebody knows why this kind of errros?

-Also I am seeing high cpu usaged:

The number is negligible over the total count, and can be ignored.

However, it may indicate a performance problem and the need to upgrade to a faster router.,

Please post the output of

show proc cpu sorted | ex 0.00

show interfaces

show run

show version

See if you find any logs in show log that could help isolate the problem (Routing protocol neighbor flaps, etc)

It looks like a lot of traffic is being process switched. which is causing the CPU spike.

Line errors, particularly CRC, can be caused by autonegotiation of speed and duplex being disabled.

The configuration of your interface is showing you hard coded the speed and duplex.  Take these two lines away and observe.

Hi Leo thanks, I tried that but no luck,  and just to clarify the errors are not CRC, they are "ignored errors"

I believe ignored errors are when a packet is received, but the router doesn't have a buffer to save it in, so it "ignores" it.

This can be caused by the router being unable to keep up with the ingress rate (such as a burst).

As yours appears to be a 2811, a 2811 cannot really sustain wire-rate on its FE interfaces.

Additionally, on your 2811, its average CPU is somewhat busy and your stats show a large percentage of CPU  process switching.  This could be one of the contributors why the 2811 ignores some received packets.  It might be worthwhile to troubleshoot that.

However, as Paolo already noted, your ignored count is such a low percentage, its probably not worthwhile being concerned with.
