Hi,
Installation of 2 x 4 Mbps MPLS circuit on primary router (CISCO 2951) and 1 x 8 Mbps Ethernet link on secondary router (Cisco 2951).
We have successfully implement the primary router with 2 x 4 Mbps MPLS circuit.
Site is having two computer room CR1 and CR2 and distance between both room is 200mts.
CR1 is having primary core router and primary core switch where the service provider terminated the new MPLS circuit and we have done the successful implementation.
CR2 is having Secondary core router and secondary core switch where we needs to have the termination of Ethernet link but service provider has delivered the Ethernet link on the CR1 which is incorrect DMARC Location.
Both the computer rooms are connected via optical copper can we use that copper to connect the circuit on CR2, as per my understanding we can use the optical fiber to connect the wind circuit on secondary router on CR2 by using the media connector.
can anybody please provide their guidance to resovle the above issue.
Thanks in advance!!!
Thanks & Regards,
Ahmed Umair

Hello Ahmed,
if there is a free fiber pair between CR1 and CR2, as a workaround you can extend the DEMARC of secondary link from CR1 to CR2.
If there is no free additional fiber pair and the only fiber cables are already in use to connect CR1 LAN switch to CR2 LAN switch, some additional configuration is needed.
You can create a new Vlan X to be used just to extend the secondary link to CR2. At this point you would connect the secondary link to an SFP port on the CR1 LAN switch associated to Vlan X.
The link between the switches have to be an 802.1Q trunk carrying all the needed Vlans including the ad hoc extension Vlan X on both sides.
On CR2 LAN switch a port to CR2 router is associated to Vlan X and in this way the extension is performed.
To be noted this second scenario involving the LAN switches should be used only as a temporary workaround as it introduces dependency from good state of CR1 LAN switch to provide backup: if for any reason a power outage happens on CR1, the backup link cannot work.
In the first scenario, no active device in CR1 is involved, so the first scenario might be a mid term solution
In the long term you should make the SP to move the DEMARC to CR2 room.
Hope to help
