Interface gig 1/0 went to reset status!

Bledian

Level 1

Hello community,

My client has a Router 2911 version 15.7 with an integrated switch, interface gigabitethernet 1/0 suddenly went to status reset / protocol down, which is the port that communicates with integrated switch.

When I do shut/no shut on the interface I get this message: %Y88E8K-1-ACCESS_FAILED: Unable to access Y88E8K chip

Would appreciate any kind of help !

Best regards,

BR

Here is the reload output of the router if needed:

Looks for me interface failing, this may be due to some issue with hardware.

suggest to move the config to difference interface if free and test it.

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hello Balaji,

Thank you very much for the fast response.

The problem is that as I know only interface giga 1/0 communicates with the integrated Switch (correct me if I'm wrong).

Using other interfaces won't solve it.

Best regards,

@Bledian,

I believe @balaji.bandi was asking you to try moving the link to an unused port on the router. it appears that your router has four ports. Are they all in use?

Moving the link would require you to move the cable in port g1/0 to an unused port (preferably on a different slot). It also involves configuration changes.

Thank you for the reply @NetworkDave

This is the back site of the Router, interface gig 1/0 is integrated somewhere inside the router, is there any chance to move the connection between integrated switch and router to another port (rather than gig 1/0), or its a factory connection which cant be changed.

Br,

r2911.png

are you using a 2911 integrated router?

Sorry my eyes skipped over the "Router2911" but would it be possible to do a temp fix using the external facing ports to connect to the switch for now if the issue isn't solved.

It's a  2911 Router + Integrated Switch.

Bledian_0-1666117184931.jpeg

what does your clients interface availability look like? you would lose an interface on the router and switch but you could connect them with a Cat5/6 for a hot fix if this device is important for their network and need it back asap. just use the same configs until a more concrete solution is provided. You may have to put in a ticket with TAC if it is determined to be a hardware issue but i don't know what their supplies look like and the lead time could be quite long. But it could be quick, i cannot speak for them since i dont have any affiliation.

Hello,

are you using the commands below ?

service-module gigabitethernet 1/0 shutdown
service-module gigabitethernet 1/0 reset
service-module gigabitethernet 1/0 reload

@Bledian,

The pictures helped. You are correct. Since the 2911 router is using a service modue for switching, the interface G1/0 is internal.

Please try the recommendations suggested by @Georg Pauwen and HTH.
