IP CEF Impact

Hi guys,

I've encountered some problems when i enable ip cef on my gateway router. After enabling it, two of my linux servers went down. After disabling ip cef, everything went normal again.Any experiences on these ?

Hi

Once you enable ip cef is ur servers going unreachable ?? are you trying to check with normal ping ?

if thts the case can you chcek the route for the servers once you enable cef on ur router ..

also bit more info reqd on your network topology..

This could be an encapsulation issue.

Check ARP table , if you see SNAP...this is not supported by CEF.

Could be that the adjacencies to the linux servers aren't coming up completely.

Heres a good doc for checking if this is the problem, and troubleshooting incomplete adjacencies:

Hi guys,

Heres my setup.

Linux servers --- Switch --- FW ---- 6500 --- Router

I enable IP CEF on Router then suddenly my linux servers cant be reached. I have a static route pointing to my FW if destined for my linux servers. Is this because of the static routing ? Though i have 4 more linux servers, only 2 of them fails whenever i enable ip cef.
