Looking to verify if the A9K-MOD80-SE module is hot swappable in an ASR-9006? We have a maintenance coming up to install a few A9K-MPA-20X1GE modules in a A9K-MOD80-SE.
Are these hot swappable? I've reviewed the MPA-20X1GE as yes, but I can't find anything for the A9K-MOD80-SE.
I haven't been able to find anything in the Cisco documentation that discusses this, even in the hardware guides.
In the old days of the 7500 routers the main FlexWAN modules had to be installed in a powered down state, but some of the smaller port adapter cards could be installed while powered on.

Yes, I've read over this and other documents. The A9K-MOD80-SE is different in that it's not a complete line card.

yes i can understand, that module is modular you can have combination.
its like any other cisco Modular switches, like Nexus 5K. you can have different Modules can go in the modular.
personally i do not see any issue online insert and remove ( especially these are designed for SP kind of level, keeping in mind less traffic intruption and less downtime).
Note : this is based on the documnent for that module, i have worked on ASR we have done online insert and remove, following good care of insert remove.

Hello @dewey89 ,
both the modular linecard and the modular port adapters should be hot swappable according to the document provided by BB.
I agree that being a carrier class device OIR is expected for all linecards with possible point of attention of the RSPs being the brains of the node.
As a side note in Cisco 7500 the VIP linecards series 2 ( 2-40, 2-50) and series 4 (4/80) were hotswappable and supported OIR.
However, I remember a case in a lab enviroment that a wrong insertion of a VIP linecard caused the reload of the whole router C7506.
The C7506 had a bus, ASR 9000 has switching fabric hosted on the RSP linecard so this event should not happen.
Hope to help
