Hello, everyone.
I am currently covering LISP and I have a quick question. I've read that it was first created to help the large number of routes that existed on the internet and that it's nowadays mostly used as the control plane protocol with SDA.
So is LISP still used on the internet these days?

I don't think it ever reached it's potential for that purpose. I have touched quite a few Cisco-heavy networks where LISP could make sense, but I have never seen it implemented outside of the LAN.

Hello David,
In practice, LISP has found more substantial application within enterprise networks, particularly in SDA as you mention.
Beyond enterprise environments, LISP has been considered for specialized applications, such as in the aeronautical sector. For instance, the international civil aviation orga has evaluated Ground-Based LISP as a candidate technology for the next-generation aeronautical telecomunications network (ATN), indicating its potential in niche areas requiring advanced mobility and routing capabilities. So, LISP's role in the global internet has not expanded as initially envisioned...
