Is there a way you can see why a Switch Restarted

We have a 2950C-24 Switch which restarted the other day unexpectedly. Apart from using the Show Version command to view the amount of 'Up Time' ... I don't know if there is a way to see WHY the switch may have restarted. I also used the Show Logging command which showed a UDLD error detected on Port 26 and therefore it was shutdown ... would this cause a restart of the switch as well.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In the show verison O/P itself you will have a line stating the reason for the reload.

whether its by normal power on or by some s/w forced error..

Would be better if you can post out the show verions O/P over here which can help to find it out for u..

Also i dont think UDLD will cause a reload ,as u said it would hve shut the port as the action configured when udld is sensed on the ports..

The show version is a good place to start. The show stacks, and the show memory are also useful. The output interpreter tool from Cisco site (registered users) can help you to determine the cause of the error if you have the output of this commands.

Note, that if you have restarted the router since the error, the data would have been lost.

Also the show logging is often not useful, because the buffer is cleared after the restart. If it is logging to an external syslog server, then the messages just before the restart could be useful.
