I read in some documents that point-point network type always forms only level-2 ISIS neigborship. But when I tested in lab I saw only level-1 neigborship even though R5 and R6 have capability of level 1 and level 2 .Please find the output below. I would like to know that the right behavior of ISIS over point to point .
R5#sh isis neighbors
System Id Type Interface IP Address State Hold time Circuit Id
Router L1 Et0/0 192.168.10.6 UP 58 00
R6#sh isis neighbors
System Id Type Interface IP Address State Hold time Circuit Id
R5 L1 Et0/0 192.168.10.5 UP 22 00
R6#
R5#sh clns interface Et0/0 | include Circuit
Circuit Type: level-1-2
Level-1 Metric: 10, Priority: 64, Circuit ID: R6.00
Level-2 Metric: 10, Priority: 64, Circuit ID: R6.00
R6#sh clns interface Et0/0 | include Circuit
Circuit Type: level-1-2
Level-1 Metric: 10, Priority: 64, Circuit ID: R6.00
R6#
Thanks in advance

P2P and isis levels are 2 different things. The adjacency should come up as L1, L2 or L1L2, depending on the configuration. In your case the adjacency comes up as L1 only because R6 is configure as L1 only (is-type level-1).
