Greetings,
I have a problem with SM-X-16G4M2X Module on my new ISR, I usually had to deal with SM-X-ES3-16-P Modules and I could access them pretty easy.
Meanwhile now I am not able to access that module as I usually did on the other modules with the (hw-module session x/y) command.
And I can't find any good documentation regarding that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Ermir.

Hello @Ermir Morina ,
at configuration guide link
it says:
>>
Cisc IOS XE Gibraltar 16.12.1 release is required to configure the Cisco SM-X-16G4M2X.
So verify what IOS XE version is running on your router if it is older you need to upgrade it in order to be able to support the module.
Hope to help

Hello Giuseppe,
Yes, the version of my IOS is Cisco IOS XE Software, Version 17.02.01r.
But it seems that this kind of ISR 4331 with that module works differently from the other model that I mentioned, meaning you can have access on the interfaces of your router and switch from one session and you don't need to login on the switch as you do on other models.
Still trying to figure out the architecture and the functionality of it!
Thank you very much for your responses.

Not sure lost track, where this issue now. if this is Layer 2 Module (un like any other Module linke NIMcards), this ports are Layer 2 (just like dumb modules in the switch, it does not hold any session), so you can configure Globlally as per i know.
is this still have issue ? where are we upto ?

FYI!!
Cisco SM-X Layer2 EtherSwitch Service Module Software
The Cisco SM-X Layer2 EtherSwitch Service Module is supported by default on the IOS-XE software running on the ISR4000 series routers. All configurable CLI for the module is supported on the IOS that runs on the router providing a single console for both the module and the router platform. The module is supported on all licenses beginning with IP Base, extending to SEC, AppX and the UC license. Where MACSec is configured on the router, a SEC license is needed to enable the feature on the module.
