ISR4431 FAN SPEED

May someone comment on the expected speed of the fans in a isr4431?   They seem to run constantly between 8500 and 11000rpm which seems really excessive and very noisy.  Is this the norm?

Just looked at two of mine where I know that one is running in a too hot room, and the second is in a climate controlled room:

rtr-sydney#sh environment | i fan|Temp
P2 RPM: fan0 Normal 13440 RPM
P2 RPM: fan1 Normal 13260 RPM
P2 RPM: fan2 Normal 13260 RPM
P2 RPM: fan3 Normal 13320 RPM
R0 Temp: Inlet Normal 38 Celsius
R0 Temp: Internal Normal 36 Celsius
R0 Temp: Outlet Normal 39 Celsius
R0 Temp: CPU Normal 41 Celsius
rtr-melbourne#sh environment | i fan|Temp
P2 RPM: fan0 Normal 7440 RPM
P2 RPM: fan1 Normal 7380 RPM
P2 RPM: fan2 Normal 7380 RPM
P2 RPM: fan3 Normal 7320 RPM
R0 Temp: Inlet Normal 24 Celsius
R0 Temp: Internal Normal 26 Celsius
R0 Temp: Outlet Normal 30 Celsius
R0 Temp: CPU Normal 32 Celsius

I would say, that's more or less "normal" for this platform.

Thank you Karsten.   I was wondering if it was normal.   It's quite something 13000rpm!!!

there is quite a whistle from the grills too.  Very much louder than the servers in the same enclosure.

Same problem, very loud fans and was taking errors on Fan 3 and Fan 4.  I popped the cover and someone had apparently replaced the power supply and did not reconnect Fan 3 and Fan 4, so Fan 1 and Fan 2 were running at 25,000RPM!    It is much quieter at 7320 RPM.

Hello

on a side note -cisco rtr and switch’s i found can take quite a high outside temperature and still function be it at a higher rate- i once had a comms rooms and it’s air con had failed and at the time we entered the room the temperature was high 90s and likes of the servers it’s related san storage failed but the cisco kit was still churning away - quite impressive tbh!
