Hi,
We've had a kilostream connection installed to provode connectivity to a remote site. At the remote site the connection from the NTE box is serial DB15 male but the other end of the cable is terminated with RJ45. The guys are looking to connect the RJ45 to one of the ethernet ports on the router.
Will this work as at the Head office the connection from the NTE is done using a serial cable and a WIC-1T card.
I'm pretty sure it won't.
Thanks
Darren

I am not very familiar with the Kilostream. But if the connection at the Head Office is using a T1 card then I am pretty sure that using an Ethernet at the remote is not going to work. Many people get confused where serial media use RH-45 connectors because they associate RJ-45 with Ethernet connections. But many of the modern serial media cards do use RJ-45 connectors. I believe that the remote router is going to need a serial card and not Ethernet to make the Kilostream work.

You have an E1 circuit. What "they guys" want to do will NOT work. You need to mention your exact router model so it can be suggested the right hardware you have to buy. At the central office you have been given an interface converter that you may want to avoid at least at the branch.
