I am trying to configure a new Cisco Router I purchased on Ebay but before I connect it to the internet I want to get a firewall enabled. My plan was to use zone based firewalling and after I enter "conf t" to create my zones it shows me zone isn't an available command. Is this a licensing thing? I looked over my license info and it doesn't show much. I am trying to figure out how to enable licensing on Cisco Devices. I have three of them I will have to do the same thing with.
NASA#show license EULA
Feature name EULA Accepted
------------ -------------
ipbasek9 n/a
securityk9 no
uck9 no
datak9 no
FoundationSuiteK9 no
AdvUCSuiteK9 no
ios-ips-update no
SNASw no
hseck9 n/a
cme-srst no
mgmt-plug-and-play n/a
mgmt-lifecycle n/a
mgmt-assurance n/a
mgmt-onplus n/a
mgmt-compliance n/a
This is a 2911 but I have 2 other devices I will have to configure and do the same with as well.
Is licensing transferable with the hardware based on serial number? How much is the securityk9 package if I need to purchase it? or would I be better off buying an ASA on ebay with sec bundle?

Hello,
you probably have right to use licensing. You need to accept the EULA and then activate the license:
The syntax should be something like below:
2911#license right-to-use activate featureset accept EULA
and then reload the router.

You do not have a License which you purchased, contact local Cisco SE or Partner to assist you for the License buy.
Other suggestion whenever you buy from eBay, make sure you ask show version and show license before buying, so you know better what you buying product have enough feature what you intended to implement in your network.

Yeah, The seller provided screenshots of licensing. It showed none under security. It may have been licensed at one point. I'm not sure. I will have to do some digging. I don't know how licensing works with Cisco. I got a 2900 online for under 100 dollars. Not too bad. I will see how I can get this licensed or I will buy an ASA.
Thank you for your help.
By the way. In IOS 15.7(3)M3.

It's a boot variable. I am the learnings.
NASA(config)#license boot module c2900 technology-package securityk9
