I have a E1 controller which has 6 timeslots range configured for 6 customers. Can I provide a loop to a particular customer such that other customers (of other timeslots connected via same E1 controller) do not get disconnected. Will giving loop on a particular channel group/timeslot result in loop on full E 1.
Please explain.

Gaurav,
If you give a soft loop or hardloop on the cable itself, then it would effect the whole E1. I am sure that this cannot be done and if you give a loop on E1 it will be for the hole E1, however I am not sure of the ISP mux settings. Please check it with your ISP and see if that thing is possible on their MUX or not.

Hi,
I work for an ISP and if we request a loopback test the whole E1 bearer is looped.
Is the connection showing up ,up?
If so try using the show cdp neighbor command
and you may see the connection the far end.
Also if this is a new custmer try change the encapsulation on the link.

Hi Gaurav,
Pls let me know whether ur using MUX in ur side or modem? I believe we can provide loop(s/w &h/W) in both the case with out distrubing the other clients links.

Actually controller is sonet and there we have diffrent E1 and that also we channelinze to make diffrent timeslots , hence channel groups. We have mux .
What diffrence does it make if modem is used.?
