Hi all,

I've got a router which links two different LAN.

This router chaches MAC address so If I move a LAN IP from a card to another I'm not able to reacht it from other lan for a while (until router refresh its cache).

Do you know if it is possible to disable MAC address caching for specified MAC ADDRESS or IP?

How are performaces inpacted if I disable caching?

Thank You

Hello,

I don't think you can turn it off alltogether, but you can reduce the default of 300 seconds (5 minutes) with the command:

mac-address-table aging time

The minimum is 10 seconds...

mac-address-table aging-time

HTH,

Are there other ways to solve this problem when you are dealing with cluster's virtual IP?

If my cluster switches node and move its virtual public IP to another LAN card I suppose I'll have same problem.

So, is it possible to tell router to deal with this IP in different way from others (no caching for example)?

Thank You
