My WAN sites are setup with a MPLS connection and an internet connection. When the MPLS connection fails traffic then flows across a VPN connection.
Is there any easy way to test the VPN connection without shutting down the MPLS connection? I was just putting a static route into my to an IP that lived in my datacenter. I would get ping responses but today I had an MPLS failure and the VPN connection didn't work correctly. So, I am just looking for any thoughts on an easy test to confirm that its working.
Thanks

Are you using DMVPN?
You could configure pings to just the remote tunnel IP addresses.
You could configure a route to a specific host address that forces the traffic over DMVPN, so you can verify that connectivity is working with a ping or monitoring tool.

Unfortunately not using DMVPN yet. It's a IPSEC Tunnel from a 2911 to a Cisco ASA
