Multcasting Configuraiton Migration

Hello,

We are migrating two NX7Ks, which are configured in a vPC domain, to two new C9606 using StackWise Virtual Link (SVL).

Currently, the configuration of multicasting is that we are using each NX7K (NX7K_A & NX7K_B) as two RPs (Rendezvous Points) as we are using two different loopback addresses (100.100.100.101/32 & 100.100.100.102/32 respectively).

Question is since we will be SVL (single virtual switch), do we need to use two RPs (two loopback addresses) or should we just use one?

Here's the RP config on each NX7K switches:

NX7K_A:
interface loopback0
ip address 100.100.100.101/32
ip pim sparse-mode
!
!
ip pim auto-rp rp-candidate loopback0 group-list 224.0.0.0/4
ip pim auto-rp mapping-agent loopback0
ip pim ssm range 232.0.0.0/8
ip pim auto-rp forward listen
no ip igmp snooping
!
!

NX7K_B:
interface loopback0
ip address 100.100.100.102/32
ip pim sparse-mode
!
!
ip pim auto-rp rp-candidate loopback0 group-list 224.0.0.0/4
ip pim auto-rp mapping-agent loopback0
ip pim ssm range 232.0.0.0/8
ip pim auto-rp forward listen
no ip igmp snooping
!
!
Thanks in advance, Z

Hi,

You'll be using one RP now, as you'll be using a single Loopback. Here's one good introduction to SVL.
