Network Equipment for video conf deployment

Hi,

Can any one tell me the details about the Network equipment needed for VIDEO conference facility for a company.

As per my understanding :

1. We need a Router and Switches which can support QoS and Multicast features with high memory capacity.

and router should have DSP card for voice .

2. Polycom device like VSX 7000

What is the lower range of cisco router which can support all these features ?

Does Cisco 1841 router supports ?  I know ,it does not have voice features .then can we add VWIC cards to that. or shall I have to go for 2600 or 2800 .

We have Cisco 2960 switches  and 1 cisco 3650 switch and Cisco 1841 router. Is this equipment sufficient for this requirement.

What is the procedure to deploy video conf  solution over a network.

Can any one provide me good document on this ?  ( like QoS and multicasting needed to be done ).

Need info.

Thanks,

Ajay

hi Ajay

first of all you need to understand how video conf work, in very brief words, video ned points register to a call control system like in Cisco CUCM, VCS or Gatekeeper while other venders they mostly use a gatekeeper

if you need multipoint calls you might need to consider multipoint media unit aka MCU

the call control system has the dial plan and control the call signaling while the mediad traffic in most cases will be direct between end points

no need for a router to have DSP for video to work so any router could do the job if is just doing a WAN edge router role

answers to you questions:

1- you can use what ever router as long as it support QoS and the requried bandwidth, ISR G2 can help like 1900, 2900 or 3900

Multicast not needed unless you are doing video streaming ( video Conf do not need Mcast normally )

2- you can try Cisco video conf and Telepresence solutions:
