This is a tricky answer.  I know that you'll need NM-1FE-TX but there are some Cisco documentation which contradicts each other.  No one in Cisco is willing to update the documentation because both the 2600 router and the NM are all end-of-support.

Another thing ... Adding either NM is useless as 2600 won't be able to push 10 Mbps.  You may as well get the cheaper NM-1E.

Hi

thanks for the reply, ive been looking at Cisco site & indeed there are conflicting documents.

If i get the NM-1FE-TX will i need to upgrade the ios? Its for a customer site, think they are running 12.3 (ahhhh)

How come i will only get 10mbps?

I am not sure about what is the minimum IOS.  I have seen people mentioning 12.2 but what train, I have encountered.  Try 12.2 "T" train.

The 2620 router can push, with CEF enabled, up to 12.8 Mbps.  Now, I'm not talking about per interface.  I'm talking about per chassis.  So the 2620 already has two FastEthernet ports.  Adding a third won't make it go faster.

The document was, most likely, written by the marketing people so the value of 12.8 Mbps is  expressed in HALF duplex and without any encryption.

Half that value and you get the throughput expressed in FULL duplex or with full encryption.  Half that value more and you'll get a value expressed in FULL duplex and FULL encryption.

This is why I'm saying, getting the cheaper NM-1E would've been alot easier.

It is not worth at all to upgrade these old routers.
