Outside IP Address Change

Customer is recieving a new IP address and gateway.

Equipment involved:

1. ASA 5505
2. Windows Small Business Server 2011 / Exchange 2010

The DNS servers will not change.

Looks like a call to the ISP to change the MX record, but what then? I can make the change in the ASA but will I need to make any changes to the SBS?

If the ASA is doing NAT, you should not really need to do anything with the server. The internal address will translate to the new address on the outside without the server even knowing it.

If you are not doing NAT and the server will need to have a new address assigned to it in the new subnet. You also may have to adjust firewall rules to reflect that new address.

Hi,

You got the external DNS part. Inaddition to Gregory's suggestion, I would also clear the existing translation table on ASA after applying new IPs. The command.. 'clear xlate'.
