Packet Tracer - Troubleshoot Static and Default Routes

Hi all,

I've been given a PT file (attached) to troubleshoot for a uni module. I'm slowly getting to grips with routing, but this one has confused me.

I've worked my way through the IPv4 and IPv6 configurations and made a list of what I think is wrong. I found 8 errors. Before making any changes in PT I had a look online, and everyone else has 5 errors, which match with 5 of my 8.

R1 - Incorrect next hop IPv4 address set for default route.
R2 - Two incorrect IPv4 static routes set The next hop addresses for LAN 1 and LAN 3 are the wrong way around.
R2 - Incorrect IPv6 network address provided for LAN 1.
R3 - Incorrect IPv4 prefix/mask configured for LAN 1 network address.
R4 - There is no static IPv6 route configured for LAN 1.

I made the changes in PT based on the 5 and I have full connectivity, so that's good! But as far as I can see the following also apply...

R1 - No IPv4 static routes for LAN 2, WAN, or LAN 3.
R2 - No IPv4 default route(s) set.
R3 - No IPv4 default route set.

So that's left me confused. Does R1 *have* to have static routes if a default is set, and do R2 and R3 *have* to have defaults...? I can't check results in PT as it's locked for this activity.

Could anyone shed some light on this?

As it all works I could submit it now but I don't want to miss out on marks as I need everything I can get!

Thanks,

Leo
