Hi all,
Does anyone know if the two listed POE switch ports on the 880 series routers are active out of the box (default) or is configuration or extra parts required as internet pictures appear to show what looks like a power connector new to the POE ports?
Cheers Louise

Thanks Sandeep for your reply but unfortunately not, the units I'm looking at are 888-K9. The spec does say factory option POE but the routers have power plug next to the switch FE" 0 and 1" ports so it appears to me an external power supply will be required but the documentation seems to contradict that hence the reason for my question. Has anyone got a POE device running of a 888-K9 router?

Ya I've seen that too, it's all very vague. I'm thinking that either an external PSU is required as POE is normally 48v and the router is powered by a 12v external PSU or the power connector is for a second POE device so as to make all 4 switch ports POE.

If you want to power up to four ports 15.4 PoE then it would have to be the 890 with a PoE daughter module and a separate power brick.

Thanks, but does that mean the 2 factory options ports (FE 0 &1) on the 888-K9 are already powered or also need an external power supply?

Not sure about the 888 as I haven't used it. However, in a majority of cases, you still need a PoE daughter card and a PoE power brick if the PoE option is ordered separately.

Cheers, it's just not very clear what is required. I guess I'll just order and play.
