Hi All,
I tried configuring policy-map in a fastethernet 0/1 switchport on a cisco 2960 switch. But the configuration doesn't take effect. Once i move the policy-map to the interface vlan it's giving me an error that policy-map cannot be configured on a vlan.
access-list 101 permit any any log
class-map voice
match access-group 101
policy-map mark
class voice
set dscp ef
FastEthernet 0/1
service-policy input mark
If I do a show access-list 101 i do not see any increments. Is it possible to do this policy-map in a layer 2 port or should it be done on a routed port?

Are you using cisco phones or other decent vendor? They set dscp EF by default and there is no need to rewrite.

I am using cisco phone for testing. But my goal is to confirm if policy-map is possible or not to do marking on a switchport.

It is possible.
