port-channel lcap fast-switchover command not available on the router

Hi,

 

We are trying to setup port-channel with redundancy 1:1 with our 6509 router,  but we found that we cannot use the command: lacp fast-switchover

 

Router(config-if)#lacp ?
  max-bundle  LACP maximum number of ports to bundle in this port channel

Is this because this version dont have the nesserary command?

Hi Daniel,

For the Catalyst 6500 the lacp fast-switchover command was not introduced until 12.2SXH. From the Understanding LACP 1:1 Redundancy section of the Catalyst 6500 Release 12.2SX Software Configuration Guide:

"Understanding LACP 1:1 Redundancy

With Release 12.2(33)SXH and later releases, the LACP 1:1 redundancy feature provides an EtherChannel configuration with one active link and fast switchover to a hot standby link."

It would be worth you considering a IOS upgrade anyway as 12.2SXF reached End of Support since Feb-2015. See End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(18)SXF for the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series.

So if i have a 7600 Series Supervisor Engine 2 card with 6509, i am not possible to run it ?

I checked here seems the latest firmware is SXF

Hi Daniel,

Apologies I missed the fact you were running a Supervisor Engine 2. Unfortunately that SE is not shown as supported in the 12.2SXH release notes so this feature will not be available to you.
